Cody Country is home to blue ribbon streams and pristine lakes. Rainbow, Yellowstone cutthroat, brown and lake trout, and mountain whitefish are commonly caught in the area. Brook trout are found in hundreds of lakes on the Beartooth Plateau.

A Wyoming fishing license is required for all anglers older than 14. Most resident and nonresident licenses also require a conservation stamp. One-day and youth licenses are available to visitors.It is your responsibility to know creel and possession limits and any area fishing closures. PROPER CATCH & RELEASE TECHNIQUES
• Play and land fish as rapidly as possible to reduce stress.
• Keep the fish in water as much as possible.
• Do not squeeze the fish or place fingers in gills.
• Remove hooks gently. If hooked deeply, cut the line and leave the hook in place.
• Barbless hooks allow easier hook removal.
• Flies and lures are recommended over bait.
• If a fish is exhausted and cannot hold itself upright, gently hold it with its head facing upstream until it is able to swim away.
