Cody Country is part of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, twenty million acres of wild country that includes Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks, parts of six national forests, three national wildlife refuges, and state and private lands. This is one of the largest nearly intact temperate ecosystems left on Earth. Greater Yellowstone is a vestige of wild America, where you can find nearly all the species present when Lewis and Clark’s Corps of Discovery traveled the landscape. Cody Country is a great launching point for exploring this territory.
